Flowers to Make Your Hair Healthy and Beautiful

We all dream of healthy and beautiful hair that is long and shiny. But, unfortunately not all of us are lucky enough to have that naturally. We do everything possible to achieve that look but again, whether it works or not is not in our hands. Apparently we end up using a lot of shampoos, hair styling products, creams and colors etc. on our hair. At times it suits us and at times we just end up harming our hair by the strong chemicals in these products.

So, what could be the solution? These days the beauty clinics and salons are all vouching over the natural or organic products. “Go Green!” is the new trend. And why not? these natural products do not have any side effects. It may or may not have magical effect on your hair, but at the same time there won’t be any side effects and it will be a win win situation if it works exactly the way it promised.
We all know flowers are an epitome of beauty and elegance. But, very few are aware that these flowers that look so beautiful are also very useful. There are many flowers that can be used for hair care and maintenance.

We will be talking about some such flowers and how to use them for your hair:

Hibiscus: This flower is widely known as an effective hair care agent. It helps in prevention from dandruff, hair loss, itching, scalp scaling, redness, premature ageing, excessive oiliness of hair, and it helps in hair growth. It can also be used as a hair coloring agent and gives a very nice red hue to the hair on application of the paste.
How to use: There are two ways in which this flower can be used on your hair;
  • Make a paste of the flowers and add coconut oil and apply to the hair. Rinse with water after some time.
  • Boil the flowers in coconut oil, after which you need to filter the solution and apply it on your hair before washing them.
  • Boil the flowers and the leaves and leave the solution overnight. Filter this mixture and apply it on your hair after the wash as a leave in solution. Do not wash this solution after application.
Lavender: Lavender is known for being useful in getting rid of the hair lice. It is also useful for protecting you from hair loss, hair thinning etc.
How to use: Lavender oil is used on the hair in the following ways for better impact:
  • Mix Lavender oil to some other oil like jojoba oil, rosemary oil etc. and apply on your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap or wrap a towel on your head and wash after an hour or so.
  • You can also mix this oil to your natural shampoo.
Calendula or Marigold: This flower is known to ease the scalp irritation caused due to dandruff. It is mainly effective for those with oily hair that is affected by dandruff. It can also be used for coloring hair into red color.
How to use: Marigold or calendula can be used for the hair care in the following ways:
  • As a hair rinse. Soak the flowers in water overnight and apply on the hair before washing. This gives relief from dandruff.
  • For coloring the hair with beautiful red highlights on blonde hair, rinse the hair with the flower extract again and again for better results.
Arnica: This flower is used for treating the hair loss, hair graying, stimulating the hair growth, strengthening of the hair etc. It also helps in dandruff treatment.
How to use: For using the Arnica flower on your hair follow the following directions:
  • Soak the arnica flowers and infuse them in some oil for application on the scalp.
  • Do not try to intake the flower in any form as this may not be a very good idea and can cause problems.
Tiare: This is used for strengthening the hair cuticles, bringing shine to the hair, in short this makes the hair healthy and strong and tangle free. It also brings moisture to the hair and helps those with dry hair.
How to use: This is used in the form of monoi oil by soaking the flowers in coconut oil for a period of ten days. By soaking the flowers in the coconut oil this flower brings in its qualities into the oil and this oil is known as monoi oil.
There are many other flowers and herbs that have almost similar or even better effects on the hair. So why punish your hair by putting them to go through strong chemical treatments, when nature has given you so much to explore and use?
